A new Pro Russian hacking group Heawsnet has shared a list of countries that will be on their target

Cyberwarfare has been a factor in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Although the Ukrainian government and private sector’s computer systems were initially attacked in 2013 during widespread protests, the Russian cyberweapon Uroburos had been around since 2005. Russian cyberattacks persisted, resulting in the Christmas 2015 and 2016 hacking of the Ukrainian electricity grid, the paralysis of the Ukrainian State Treasury in December 2016, a massive hacker supply-chain attack in June 2017, and attacks on the websites of the Ukrainian government in January 2022.

Cyberattacks against the websites of the Ukrainian government started again in January 2022, following the failure of US-Russian negotiations over Ukraine’s membership in NATO. After the strikes in February 2022, Russian forces invaded eastern Ukraine and knocked down a number of significant banking and governmental websites. Despite the Russian government’s denials, US intelligence implicated Russian attackers in the strikes.

Given that the US and EU have come together to aid Ukraine, it is thought that the scope of cyberwar may expand. Large-scale cyberwarfare may spread internationally due to spillover effects. Authorities in the US and the UK have warned businesses to be on the lookout for strange behavior originating from Russia on their networks. As the situation between Russia and Ukraine worsens, the rest of the globe has taken notice and begun to prepare. High-ranking government officials have taken preemptive measures and issued warnings to warn the public about the threat posed by cyber warfare.

There are several Pro-Russians who have emerged since the war started. Heawsnet is a new Pro-Russian group who are the new ‘legion by ddos’, has started operating, and has a target list of countries they’ll be attacking, which of those are considered unfriendly countries by Russia as well. There has been competition between both sides regarding who’ll do more cyberattacks on one another. The countries that have been mentioned are the USA, Australia, Albania, Andorra, United Kingdom, Iceland, Canada, Liechtenstein, Micronesia, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Republic of Korea, San Marino, North Macedonia, Singapore, Taiwan, Ukraine, Montenegro, Switzerland, and Japan. The intention of “the new Legion” is to take revenge on the Ukrainians.
