Let’s have a Processor battle between i7 vs i9

The processors form an important part of your gadget and it determines the other properties as well. The chips from Intel determine the working speed, so, therefore, let’s compare the two chips and see the differences it makes.

Core i9 naturally has a higher speed than Core i7 because it has more cores. But let’s have a detailed comparison of all the aspects

Release Date

Intel Core i7 was released in 2008 while the Intel Core i9 was released in 2017. Both of their most recent releases waa 13th generation.

Processor Type

Both the Core i7 and the Core i9 are part of Intel’s “Core” line of processors but they have some differences in architecture. Core i9 offers better performance than Core i7.

Cache Size

The Core i7 has a cache size of 8 MB, while the Core i9 has a cache size of 16 MB.

Clock and Turbo Speed

The Core i7 has a base clock speed of 3.6 GHz and a turbo boost clock speed of 4 GHz.

The Core i9 has a base clock speed of 3 GHz and a turbo boost clock speed of 4.5 GHz.

Bandwidth

The Core i7 processor can handle eight threads simultaneously and has a maximum memory bandwidth of 45 GB/s.

The Core i9 processor can handle 16 threads simultaneously and has a maximum memory bandwidth of 41 GB/s.

Power Consumption

Core i7 has a TDP (thermal design point) of 95 watts.

The Core i9 has a TDP of 140 watts—nearly 50% higher than the Core i7.
