iPhone and Android Users Now Under Threat, Warns the US Government: Users Asked to Update Now

A few days back, Apple had issued a warning message for their iPhone users, preventing them from relying on Chrome and other Google apps due to digital fingerprinting and data tracking concerns. Now, the US government has warned that all iPhone and Android users are now under threat of being attacked, and has asked everyone to update their respective devices.
Here’s more about the news.
iPhone and Android Users Asked to Update Now, or Be Attacked!
As per what has been shared, users of iPhone and other Apple devices have to update their devices now, and a similar warning has also been issued for Android users including the users of Samsung and Pixel products. The use-after-free vulnerability in WebKit – ‘CVE-2025-43529’ is what is affecting iPhone and Android devices, and memory corruption may happen when users try to process malicious web content. It should be noted that Safari as well as other non-Apple web browsers that use WebKit will be under threat. Also, previously Apple had warned that the ‘CVE-2025-14174’ is under attack too.
Furthermore, the US cyber defense agency states that Google Chromium has out of bounds memory access vulnerability in ANGLE (Almost Native Graphics Layer Engine) – the open-source library that is used by Chromium. This issue may provide remote attackers the capability to perform out of bounds memory access through an HTML web page. ‘CVE-2025-48572’ and ‘CVE-2025-48633’ are also two CISA warnings for Google’s Android OS, and these are about the privilege escalation and information disclosure.
James Maude (FCTO – Field Chief Technology Officer) of BeyondTrust notes that these threats are all the actions of a mercenary commercial spyware, and it will start with targeted attacks aimed at both iPhone and Android users (who have already been warned). However, he adds that it won’t end with this, and the exploiting will continue through many threat actors.
