What will Happen if You Reach the Event Horizon of a Black Hole?

Wondering what will happen when you reach the Event Horizon of a Black Hole?

Here’s what will happen.

Event Horizon of a Black Hole

The Event Horizon is the boundary which marks the limits of a Black Hole. It is linked to the escape velocity of an object. For an object to escape from the Black Hole, it’ll have to exceed the speed of light.

As per Albert Einstein’s Theory of Special Relativity, nothing can exceed the speed of light. This means that, any object entering the black hole won’t have an escape from it.

The closer the object is to the Event Horizon, the more powerful will the gravitational pull of the Black Hole be.

Thus the Event Horizon is to be considered as the threshold or the starting point of the Black Hole where the escape velocity exceeds the speed of light.

According to the Chair of Astronomy at Harvard University, Avi Loeb, this makes the Event Horizon, the ultimate prison wall through which anything can enter but coming out of it is considered absolutely impossible.
