HyperOS 3 Features
HyperOS 3, based on Android 16, brings improvements across performance, design, AI features, cross-device connectivity, and security. It introduces an optimised kernel with a hot spot instruction compiler for efficiency, faster and more stable graphics rendering, and over 100 refined system animations. HyperOS 3 also brings HyperIsland, a central hub for notifications, charging status, music controls, and timers, along with smoother app switching and floating window multitasking. In terms of personalisation, it brings AI Cinematic Lock Screens, dynamic wallpapers generated from photos, and editing tools with depth effects and styles. The home screen brings redesigned icons, new widgets for weather, calendar, and tasks, while the Gallery app brings customisable layouts and AI-based search with category recognition.
On tablets, HyperOS 3 brings low-latency stylus support with pressure sensitivity and split-screen multitasking with a new 1:9 ratio for flexible window management. For wearables, it brings the ability to cast workout stats from Xiaomi watches directly onto the phone’s camera view while recording.
HyperOS 3 also brings Xiaomi HyperAI, which includes several new AI-powered functions. AI Writing brings smart screen recognition to generate captions, multiple writing styles, and DeepThink mode for structured notes. AI Speech Recognition brings noise reduction, real-time transcription, and automatic meeting summaries. AI Search brings summarisation of results, on-device content search, and instant web answers. AI Translate brings real-time interpretation for calls, subtitle generation, and offline face-to-face conversation translation.
It also brings Google Gemini integration, including Gemini Live with screen share, camera share, app integration, and image generation. Through Xiaomi HyperConnect, HyperOS 3 brings improved device interactivity such as touch-to-share for files, photos, and Wi-Fi passwords (now compatible with Apple devices), Home Screen+ for iPad to run Xiaomi apps with multitasking, cross-device unlocking with biometrics, resizable app windows, iPhone hotspot connection, and phone location tracking.
In terms of security, HyperOS 3 brings post-quantum encryption for communication channels, edge-to-cloud AI data security with on-device and cloud processing, and a MiTEE-powered security protocol that enables cross-device biometric unlocking across the Xiaomi ecosystem.
