Vivo Renames FuntouchOS India X Page to OriginOS, Hints at Global Rollout with OriginOS 6
A few hours ago, we reported that Vivo might be bringing OriginOS back to the global audience. Now, things have started moving in that direction — the FuntouchOS India X profile page has been renamed to OriginOS. The banner image even shows OriginOS 6 (based on Android 16), hinting that Vivo plans to introduce it globally with the Android 16 update. OriginOS 6 itself will launch in China on October 10th during the Vivo Developer Conference.
Interestingly, the brand’s official website for Europe, India, and Indonesia now shows the OriginOS moniker in the URL, but the page itself still loads as FuntouchOS.
Tipster Abhishek Yadav claims that beta testing for OriginOS on the Vivo X200 Pro will kick off on September 29th. Meanwhile, tipster Paras Guglani has already shared an image of the global Vivo X200 FE running OriginOS. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time such rumours surfaced — back when Vivo was gearing up to launch the Vivo V60 in India, there was talk of OriginOS coming along with it, but that never materialised.
That said, don’t expect the global OriginOS to be identical to the Chinese version. According to a few tipsters, some features could be trimmed down for international users.
Now though, with the official FuntouchOS X page being rebranded to OriginOS, it feels like a strong sign — almost a confirmation — that Vivo is finally ready to bring OriginOS to India and other global markets.
The exact global rollout date is still under wraps, but chances are Vivo will make things official very soon.
