Samsung Deletes ‘OEM Unlocking’ From the One UI 8.0 Developer Options

With the latest One UI 8.0 custom skin, Samsung has decided to delete the ‘OEM unlocking’ option from the Developer options. This means, Samsung Galaxy users won’t be able to unlock the bootloader for expanded functionality.
Here’s more about it below.
‘OEM Unlocking’ Deleted From Developer Options in One UI 8.0?
Samsung’s ‘OEM unlocking’ option that its users were able to access with the Developer options enabled them to have expanded functionality on their Galaxy devices, and it also allowed them to enjoy custom ROMs as well as kernels. However, this option hasn’t been open to all, particularly for US consumers, and it lately has been available in a few regions only. As per new reports, this is about to change as Samsung is going to take away the ‘OEM unlocking’ option from the Developer options with its latest One UI 8.0 update.
While most Galaxy smartphone users never actually access their device’s Developer options, this change will be affecting the few who have been making use of these enhanced capabilities. For Samsung, it is still believed that there will be another way to unlock the bootloader, it’s just that it won’t be accessible by the users. Speaking more, this change will obviously affect future Galaxy smartphones, however it is still unclear whether or not the existing Galaxy smartphone users who have been accessing it will be affected, but reportedly there is obvious possibility.
About a few other related updates, Samsung is currently working on multiple Galaxy devices and these are expected to debut soon and were also spotted on the brand’s test server. The Galaxy A07, Galaxy A17, Galaxy M07, Galaxy F07, Galaxy Tab S10 Lite, Galaxy Tab S11, and the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra are among the list. Just to add, reports concerning the next flagship Galaxy S26 series smartphones were also shared in the past few weeks, but their launch will most likely only take place in early 2026 – next year.
Stay tuned for more updates.
