OriginOS Spotted in Vivo EU Website URL But Still Loads FuntouchOS Page

We have been hearing a lot about Vivo possibly bringing OriginOS, its custom Android skin for China, to global markets. At one point, it was tipped to launch in India with the Vivo V60 5G as OriginOS 6 based on Android 16. Those rumours, however, soon died down, as Vivo V60 5G was launched with FuntouchOS 15 based on Android 15. Up until now, there has been no credible confirmation that OriginOS, which remains China-exclusive, would expand worldwide.

Now, fresh evidence has surfaced with the term “OriginOS” spotted in Vivo Europe’s official website URL.

OriginOS Spotted in Vivo Europe’s Website URL

This was first spotted by a user named Raihan Han (Informasi Gadget), who goes by the username @raihanhan121 on X. He shared a screenshot along with the URL https://www.vivo.com/eu/originos. Interestingly, the page still displays the FuntouchOS 15 content instead of showing anything related to OriginOS 15.

Not only this, we also checked the Indian URL and replaced “funtouch” in https://www.vivo.com/in/funtouch with “originos,” and the same thing happened, the FuntouchOS 15 page opened up. We even tried with the Vivo Indonesia website, and the same thing happened.

This could hint that the earlier rumours may turn out to be true, and OriginOS might indeed be coming to global markets. For those unaware, Vivo originally used FuntouchOS as its custom Android skin for both Chinese and global audiences. But in 2020, Vivo switched to OriginOS for China, while the FuntouchOS name was retained for international models. OriginOS, in comparison, offers several features not present in FuntouchOS.

Moving on, another tipster has suggested that even though the name change may happen, not all OriginOS features will make it to the global version. However, it would still bring a major UI overhaul. According to him, we can expect a redesigned control centre, smoother animations, new widgets, an improved always-on display, and more.

Well-known tipster Yogesh Brar has suggested that the global renaming of FuntouchOS to OriginOS could take place later this year. He claims the change may align with the launch of Vivo’s upcoming X300 series and iQOO 15 lineup, which are expected to launch first in China, followed by a global debut in Q4 2025.
