Just recently, an earlier One UI 8.5 build for the Galaxy S25 Ultra was spotted on the Samsung test server and following which, a developer was able to successfully modify it and install it on his Galaxy S21+ device. Via the leaked first look that has now been shared online, the design of Samsung’s next One UI 8.5 custom skin has been revealed.

One UI 8.5 – Leaked First Look

As per reports, Samsung has been working on its One UI 8.5 custom skin since April 2025 and we now have an early look at its refreshed user interface with new menus and other characteristics. From what can be understood, the Settings menu will have more compact items in the One UI 8.5 skin without any added subtitles. Additionally, top and bottom edges with gradient overflow (giving it an elevated appearance from the background) as well as containers and the search bar with drop shadows can be spotted. Also, the search bar is brought from top to bottom in One UI 8.5, and the search page now has a three-column grid for different categories. Notably, certain iOS 26-inspired elements can also be found within Samsung’s One UI 8.5. When entering any menu in Settings, it can be seen that the back button floats over the content while scrolling. It also gets its own drop shadow too.

From what can be assumed, Samsung could possibly be developing its One UI 8.5 with its debut planned alongside the upcoming Galaxy S26 series that is going to break its cover only next year (likely in February 2025). One thing also has to be noted, a One UI 8.5 build is already ready for this year’s Galaxy S25 Ultra flagship – meaning following its debut on the Galaxy S26 series flagships, older Galaxy devices will also be offered the latest custom skin as an OTA update.

Stay tuned for more updates.
