Nothing OS 4.0 stable update released for Nothing Phone (2a), Nothing Phone (2) and Nothing Phone (2a) Plus

The UK-based tech company Nothing started the general release of its latest Nothing OS 4.0 custom skin based on Android 16 last week, and the eligible devices were said to receive this upgrade soon. Yesterday, Nothing OS 4.0 was officially released for Nothing Phone (2), Nothing Phone (2a), and Nothing Phone (2a) Plus devices.

For Nothing Phone (2), the update arrives with firmware version B4.0-251119-1654, for Phone (2a)- B4.0-251120-1747, and for Phone (2a) Plus- B4.0-251120-1812.

New features

Hiding apps directly from the home screen and App drawer is now supported. Find hidden apps via: Home screen > App drawer > Hidden icons.
Managing the search scope is now supported in the App drawer to display results within a specific scope.
Added more size options for Weather, Pedometer, and Screen Time widgets.
2×2 size is now supported for most Quick Settings tiles.
Pop-up view now supports two floating icons for easier switching.

Extra dark mode is now available, bringing a more immersive dark style. Path: Settings > Display > Dark theme > Extra dark mode.
Improved transition animators in certain scenarios for a smoother, more fluid experience (only Nothing Phone 2).
Update the lock screen password page with wallpaper blur effect (only Nothing Phone 2).

Glyph Interface

Added a setting to choose whether Flip to Glyph switches your phone to Silent or Vibrate mode.
Glyph Progress now uses Android 16 Live Update notifications for improved compatibility with third-party apps.

Camera Enhancements

Presets: Updated default list with new popular styles.
Filters: Added intensity adjustment and exclusive ‘Stretch’ styles.
Motion Photos: Supports longer recording times and audio capture.
Watermarks: Introduced new Nothing brand watermarks and artistic frames.
Interface: Refreshed camera UI design with optimised interactions.

Users are advised to back up their data before proceeding with the upgrade. Do note that the device may temporarily heat up and increase power consumption during the update and will quickly return to normal after the process is complete.
