Windows App SDK Version 1.8 Preview 1 – Released With New Features
As mentioned, with the new Windows App SDK Version 1.8 Preview 1, many new features are being introduced. The Prompt Size Limit Reporting is the first among the new features, and it will help applications to find whether or not the input has exceeded the Text Summarizer Call’s allowable size. If by chance it is found out to be large, an index pointing out the excess in limit will be returned, and this will thereby allow developers to adjust it accordingly. With the new Text Rewriter Tone, text rewriting is made possible with specific tones. Casual, Formal, and General options are available, and it will convert content into informal, professional, and original tone contents respectively. Also, the Conversation Summary Options will let developers specify the needed output language for summarizing conversation.

Additionally, by fixing a previous issue, now packageManagement capability is made required for AppContainer-based apps. Moreover, new APIs including the Image Object Remover are also available in the latest release. While new features and bug fixes have been brought, there is also a known issue in the Windows App SDK Version 1.8 Preview 1. In standalone use of component packages, an app-level package reference will be required, and this is to address a wapproj-based issue. By referencing the full top-level Microsoft.WindowsAppSDK package, this can be fixed or avoided.
The downloadable file is now available (here), and it only has a total size of 38.73 KB.
