Microsoft Officially Releases the Windows 10 October 2025 Security Updates: Windows 10 Reaches End of Support

The American tech giant – Microsoft has now released the Windows 10 October 2025 security updates for the 21H2, 22H2, 1809, 1607, and 1507 versions. This latest update will be the final official update that will be rolled out for the Windows 10 operating system, and Windows 10 as earlier revealed has reached the end of support as of on the 14th of October 2025.

Windows 10 October 2025 Security Updates Now Rolling Out
As mentioned, the Windows 10 October 2025 security updates are now out, and users of the ’21H2′, ’22H2′, ‘1809’, ‘1607’, and the ‘1507’ versions are getting the update with the respective firmware versions of ‘KB5066791’, ‘KB5066586’, ‘KB5066836’, and ‘KB5066837’.
Speaking more, the Windows 10 October 2025 security update that has been released for the ’21H2′ and ’22H2′ versions applies to the Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 and Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 systems, and it includes security improvements and fixes. Regarding the changelogs, the issue with the Chinese Input Method Editor (IME) and the issue that affected USER32 Edit controls have been fixed. PowerShell Remoting and WinRM issues have also been fixed. With the included servicing stack update (SSU), a certificate chain has also been incorporated for improving Azure environment validation. The ltmdm64.sys driver has also been removed in the new update.
For the ‘1809’ version, the Windows 10 October 2025 security update with the firmware version of ‘KB5066586’ (applies to Win 10 Ent LTSC 2019, Win 10 IoT ENT LTSC 2019, and Windows 10 IoT Core LTSC) brings fixes for the Chinese Input Method Editor (IME) issue, USER32 Edit controls issues, and PowerShell Remoting and WinRM issues. This update also removes the ltmdm64.sys driver. The update with the firmware version of ‘KB5066836’ that has been brought out for the ‘1607’ version (and Windows Server 2016) fixes the PowerShell Remoting and WinRM issues, and also removes the ltmdm64.sys driver. Finally, about the ‘KB5066837’ update that has been rolled out for the version ‘1507’, it only removes the ltmdm64.sys driver along with certain added security improvements and fixes.
To install the update, users can make use of the Windows and Microsoft release channels (Windows Update, Business, Update Catalog, and Server Update Services).
Notably, the Windows 10 October 2025 security update will be the last official update that will be released for the Windows 10 operating system, and its support has ended. No more monthly security updates will be rolled out for it. Interested users can however enroll themselves for the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) program (paid subscription service) and get important critical security updates monthly.
