Through this update, Google has addressed multiple vulnerabilities affecting components such as the modem, baseband, bootloader, GPU, Wi-Fi, and the Trusted Execution Environment. These issues include remote code execution (RCE), elevation of privilege (EoP), information disclosure, and denial-of-service vulnerabilities. You can read more about it via Google’s Security Bulletin for March.
Now, coming to the March 2026 Pixel Drop features.
The March 2026 Pixel Drop adds several new features and improvements to Pixel phones, tablets, earbuds, and watches. This Pixel Drop feature update will be downloaded/installed automatically on eligible smartphones. However, as the rollout has just been announced, it may take some time to reach every eligible device.
Google has also improved the Circle to Search feature. For example, if you are browsing and like an outfit, simply use Circle to Search, and Google will find every piece, from tops to footwear and everything in between. Along with this, users can also try on clothing virtually by selecting the “Try It On” option.
Earlier, I used to check a song’s name using Shazam, but with the Now Playing app, users can not only track songs playing around them but can also store them in a history list that can be opened in a music app of their choice.
Speaking about appearance, users will get custom icon styles to quickly change the look of home screen icons. In addition, through the At a Glance widget, users will be able to see more useful information, such as real-time transit updates, sports scores, and financial market trends. Those who have a Pixel Watch will also benefit from a new feature through this update — if you forget to take your phone, the connected Pixel Watch will send an alert to the user and automatically lock the device when it moves out of Bluetooth range.
Moving on, several new AI-powered features have been added, including Magic Cue with Gemini, which can suggest restaurant recommendations directly from conversations in messaging apps. Additionally, by holding the power button, users can let Gemini handle routine tasks such as planning a grocery list or booking a ride.
A new desktop mode for Pixel phones allows users to connect their device to an external monitor through USB-C and run multiple apps in a desktop-style interface. Meanwhile, the Pixel Tablet now supports desktop-style windowing with resizable app windows. The update also adds a Comfort Display filter to soften intense colours and reduce visual strain.
For accessibility, Guided Frame has been improved with Gemini, adding more language support and offline scene descriptions to help users with low vision frame photos more easily. Additional updates include SpongeBob SquarePants theme packs, support for connecting external cameras for multi-angle streaming, expanded AI features in the Journal app on Pixel 9 devices, and wider regional availability for features such as Scam Detection in the Phone app.
Lastly, Google has confirmed that the Call Notes feature is now available for users in India on eligible Pixel smartphones through this update. This allows users to record conversations and generate transcripts.
