January 2026 security patch now rolling out to OnePlus Nord 5 users, brings new Private Safe image and video editing feature
A new update rollout for OnePlus Nord 5 users in India has now been officially announced by OnePlus via its Community page. The latest build, OxygenOS 16.0.2.400, carries the version number IN: CPH2707_16.0.2.400(EX01) and has a total download size of 1.49GB. The update is currently rolling out in the Indian region.
Along with the January 2026 Android security patch, the update introduces several new features and improvements. One of the notable additions is the ability to edit images and videos directly within Private Safe without needing to unlock them first.

As of the writing of this article, no users have reported any issues related to the update, which is expected given that the rollout has only just begun.
According to the official changelog, the update brings multiple system and usability enhancements. Users can now launch storage cleanup tools directly from the Smart Sidebar, making it quicker and more convenient to free up space. The Photos app has also been improved with new filter options such as Motion Photo, Screenshots & Screen recordings, and Edited, making it easier to sort images and videos. In addition, an upgraded thumbnail parsing method improves thumbnail loading speed.
Home screen customisation has also received attention. Users now get support for dragging and resizing app clone icons, rearranging commonly used shortcut icons after resizing app icons, and the ability to stack 2×1 widgets to improve space utilisation.
The Circle to Search feature is now easier to activate when using gesture navigation. Users can simply touch and hold the area where the gesture guide bar would normally appear, even if the bar is hidden.
Beyond the January 2026 patch, the update enhances protection features. The Phone Manager app will now prompt users to allow automatic blocklist updates over Wi-Fi and mobile data, enabling faster updates that improve detection accuracy and overall protection efficiency
