iQOO Confirms iQOO Z7 Pro Won’t Receive OriginOS 6 Update via Support Chat
Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO launched the iQOO Z7 Pro in India back in August 2023. At the time of launch, the smartphone came with FuntouchOS 13 based on the Android 13 operating system and was promised two major OS upgrades along with three years of security patch updates. The device is now running on FuntouchOS 15 based on Android 15 and has completed its OS upgrade cycle.
This means the smartphone will not receive the OriginOS 6 update. However, a user recently shared a screenshot showing their interaction with an iQOO customer support agent, which also confirms that there will be no grace period for this smartphone. As a result, the device will remain on FuntouchOS 15 based on Android 15.
Sometimes OEMs do make adjustments to their update policies. For example, OnePlus extended the OS upgrade for the OnePlus 10 Pro. Although its OS update cycle had already been completed, the company listened to user feedback and provided an additional upgrade to Android 16. So the user may have been checking whether iQOO might extend the OS upgrade policy for the iQOO Z7 Pro as well.
However, the smartphone is still eligible to receive security patch updates until August this year, unless iQOO decides to extend the security update support further.
Stay tuned for more updates!
