Good News: Android 16 Closed Beta Registrations Now Open for Nothing Phone (3)

As you’ve probably already seen in the headline, Nothing is now accepting applications for the Closed Beta of Nothing OS 4, based on Android 16, for the recently launched Nothing Phone (3).

In a blog post, the company confirmed that users interested in testing out the upcoming software can apply by the end of this week. There are a few basic requirements: you obviously need to own the Phone (3), and you should be ready to share regular feedback with the team between August and early September 2025.

The deadline to apply is 5 PM BST on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, and you can sign up using this form. Since this is an early beta, it’s important to note that not everything will be perfect, some features might not work, and bugs are to be expected. So if you’re thinking about applying, it’s best to be aware of what you’re getting into.

At the time of the Nothing Phone (3) launch, Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing, confirmed that the company would begin shipping Nothing OS 4 based on Android 16 by the end of autumn. With the Closed Beta now live, it appears the Phone (3) will be the first device in the lineup to receive Android 16.

That said, if you don’t make it into the Closed Beta, don’t worry, Nothing has confirmed that an Open Beta will roll out sometime in September 2025.
