ColorOS 16 new features and enhancements revealed by ColorOS Design Director

The Chinese manufacturer Oppo will be releasing its ColorOS 16 in October 2025, and it was expected that we may come across some details about this upcoming operating system. Ahead of the official release, ColorOS Design Director Chen Xi has shared about the new features and upgrades of ColorOS 16 via Weibo.

ColorOS 16: New highlights

ColorOS 16 comes with new Oppo Sans and Oppo Serif fonts. Earlier users witnessed the issue of inconsistent font display across the system, but with ColorOS 16, this issue has been resolved. Users will get optimised and consistent fonts across the UI. The brand has optimized font compatibility for H5 fixed pages in over 70 commonly used apps.

ColorOS 16 will provide a full-screen experience with no black screen at the bottom. The gesture bar at the bottom is also smaller and blends with the background for an enhanced viewing experience.

This full-screen experience is said to support apps like TikTok, Weibo, and Kuaishou while the company is continuing to work on compatibility with other apps as well. The sidebar has also been optimized. In addition to the visual changes, the feeling of calling up the sidebar is smoother and supports seamless interruption, rollback, and deformation. ColorOS 16 is also said to reflect seamless animations in all aspects of the system.
