Apple and Google are Reportedly Joining Hands to Offer Seamless Switching Between iOS and Android Devices

As per what has been reported, Apple and Google are said to be collaborating to make iOS and Android switching much easier, thanks to a built-in data transfer experience. This capability is already live in Android Canary builds, and expected to arrive on iOS 26 beta.

Here’s more about the update.

Apple x Google – Making iOS and Android Switching a Seamless Process?

The American tech giants – Apple and Google have been working together to bring a built-in data transfer experience both on iOS and Android running devices, and with the latest Android Canary build, it has been made live for Android users. While the capability is still not yet live for iOS users, it is said to roll out soon via the iOS 26 beta version. Regarding the wider roll-out to the general users, it is expected to take place on a gradual basis.

Speaking more, a system-level data transfer experience that will be available at the time of the device setup is notably going to be offered, and this eradicates the dependence on separate apps for the purpose of switching between the two operating systems. App data, app settings, notifications, and key system preferences will be part of the transfer data during the switching process.

To note, it has been revealed that the EU regulations are currently pushing brands to reduce platform lock-ins, and it could be as a result of this that Apple and Google had decided to join hands together. Also to add, this new iOS and Android switching capability has been built over the other interoperability features like RCS messaging support for iPhones and AirDrop-style sharing function from Android (Quick Share) to iOS (AirDrop).
