Nothing Rules Out Phone (4) for 2026, Phone (4a) Series Set to Arrive Soon
Nothing’s smartphone roadmap has become clearer after a video appeared on the company’s official YouTube channel titled “Nothing CEO talks 4a”. In the video, CEO Carl Pei confirms that there will be no Nothing (4) launching this year.
Pei explains that the company does not want to release a new flagship simply to follow a yearly launch cycle. Instead, Nothing wants each major release to feel like a meaningful step forward. He also confirms that Nothing (3) will continue as the brand’s flagship for 2026. At around the 8:18 mark in the video, he reiterates that there is no new flagship planned for this year, ruling out the arrival of a Phone (4) this year.
During the conversation, Pei also touches on Nothing’s software direction and speaks about the company’s work on “Essential Apps”. He describes these as tools that allow regular users to create their own widgets and apps based on what they personally want to see and use. The feature is currently in the alpha stage and will gradually be opened to more users as it moves towards beta. For now, it remains exclusive to the Nothing Phone (3).
With the flagship topic addressed, attention shifts to what’s coming next: the Phone (4a) series. The video title itself points in that direction, and Pei confirms that Nothing is actively working on the A-series lineup, with a launch expected soon.
He adds that the Phone (4a) series will be a clear evolution over its predecessor. Improvements are expected across the display, camera, and overall performance. Pei also mentions the use of more premium materials, new experimentation with colours, and confirms that the devices will feature UFS 3.1 storage.
