Photo Picker Can Now Be Accessed Nearly on All Android Devices: Here’s What We Know

Now on almost all Android devices, users will be able to access the Photo Picker feature made by Android Developers.

Here’s more about it.

Photo Picker

Photo Picker was a new feature introduced by Android Developers last year and provided its Android users with a browsable interface within an app from where images of their media library can be selected. The files will be displayed from the most recent ones to the oldest ones for user convenience and the app will only have access to the selected files. This new feature blends in with the app and will not ask for any sort of permission from the side of its users.

The feature was introduced by Android Developers with the aim of providing its users more control and transparency over their data, at the same time was also intended to reduce the scope of access for outsiders to its users’ private data.

The Photo Picker is really a powerful tool at the same time is very easy to be installed. With the help of the support library, only a few lines of code are required to implement it. As per the app’s specific needs, it can also be customized. However, what came as a hindrance is the fact that the new feature lacked support for older Android devices.

Now with the ActivityX 1.7.0 update, Android devices running on Android KitKat 4.4 and later will have support for Photo Picker, with the help of the backported version provided by Google Play services. Developers will just have to update the ActivityX dependency to the latest 1.7.0 version and then will only have to add the required code snippet. To know more, visit the below link.

Photo Picker will also receive an upgrade by the end of this year, with which it will start supporting cloud storage providers as well, enabling users to select files from their cloud contents.
