MG Gloster to hit the market on August 31, 2022

It’s no news that MG Motor is planning a mid-life refresh for the Gloster and Hector SUVs. In reality, the 2022 MG Gloster has been sighted testing on Indian roads multiple times. The business has now teased the Gloster on social media, implying that a redesigned model will be introduced soon.

The teaser confirms that the 2022 MG Gloster will hit the market on August 31, 2022. The name “Advanced Gloster” hints that the full-size SUV will have various segment-first and advanced features.

According to leaked pictures, the 2022 MG Gloster SUV will get redesigned LED taillights, updated LED headlamps, a slightly altered radiator grille and front bumper, and new alloy wheels. The rear bumper and tailgate, on the other hand, are identical to the current model.

A 12.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with advanced connectivity features, a digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, a 12-speaker sound system, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat with heating, ventilation, message and memory function, a 360-degree camera, 3-zone climate control, cruise control, traction control, 6 airbags, and other features are standard on the new 3-row MG Gloster SUV.

The SUV includes Level 1 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, collision avoidance system, and so on.

The existing 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbo diesel, and 2.0-liter dual turbo diesel engines are expected to be retained in the 2022 MG Gloster facelift. While the former produces 163bhp and 375Nm of torque, the twin-turbo unit delivers 218bhp and 480Nm. The twin-turbo diesel engine includes an on-demand 4WD system with selectable drive modes. Both engines are equipped with 8-speed automatic transmissions.

The MG Gloster 3-row SUV will compete directly with the Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Alturas G4. Toyota is also working on the next-generation Fortuner SUV, which is slated to be released in 2023.
