Deepinder Goyal invites engineers to build India’s very own turbine engine at LAT Aerospace

LAT Aerospace is an aviation startup that plans to power short-haul regional aircraft. This startup was launched by Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal and Zomato COO Surobhi Das. It aims to make air travel as smooth as the railways or bus network.
Deepinder Goyal recently announced via the X platform that at LAT, a propulsion team will be put together in Bangalore that focuses solely on building turbine engines from scratch. This will be India’s turbine engine. The company has decided to give engineers the freedom to think, build, break, and repeat.
He said that, “Our dedicated research centre- with labs for combustion, turbomachinery, thermal systems, and materials, will give engineers the space and freedom to iterate fast, and get to real outcomes at speed which is unprecedented in the industry.”
The research team will be led by engineers, and the aim will be to build a full engine stack, built locally, that powers STOL aircraft, UAVs, remote connectivity, and self-reliance.
The announcement was concluded by an open call to engineers, “If you’ve ever built turbines, rotors, control systems- or anything close- and want to be a part of something that could one day rewrite history, write to us at [email protected].”
It is also specified that LAT Aerospace is not a part of Eternal, which owns Zomato and Blinkit.
