Barry Callebaut’s chocolate plant –

The Belgian chocolate plant company supplies chocolate products to number one food industries including Nestle, Hershey, Mondelez and Unilever. Recently, the company’s spokesperson told Agence France – Presse (AFP) that they have stopped the production.

The company’s spokesman Korneel Warlop said, ‘All products manufactured since the test have been blocked’.

‘Barry Callebaut is currently contacting all customers who may have received contaminated products. Chocolate production in Wieze remains suspended until further notice’, Warlop added.

Moreover, the chocolate company has also asked their clients to not ship any products they have received since June 25 at this Wieze plant. Additionally, Belgium’s food safety agency AFSCA has opened an investigation on the same.

However, the news came in limelight after a case of contaminated chocolate with Salmonella bacteria was recorded in the Ferrero factory located in Arlon in southern Belgium manufacturing Kinder chocolates.

After discovering the bacteria in chocolate, the Belgian health officials had given a green signal to restart the Italian giant’s factory for a three-month test period on June 17.
