Investments of BharatPe CEO Ashneer Grover

BharatPe co-founder, Ashneer Grover, is one of the seven among the Shark Tank India panel judges. Ashneer has invested over Rs 3.96 crore in around 15 ventures on the show.

Shark Tank India is a business reality show. It is a TV adaptation of an American based show that deals in young startup ideas and promotes entrepreneurship. The investors then invest if the ideas of several entrepreneurs convince them. The show has been streaming on SonyTV since December, 2021.

Ashneer Grover is one of India’s youngest billionaires and is the Managing Director of BharatPe. It is an online payment platform and offers several banking services to users. The company is estimated to be a $2.9 billion fintech company.

Grover has also been accused of making aggressive comments on some entrepreneurs and has been criticised several times. It has been heard that he has taken a voluntary leave due to the criticism after his audio clip went viral.

On the Shark Tank India show, Ashneer appears harsh to the contestants. Several memes have been released on several dialogues of him.

Ashneer had pursued B. Tech in civil engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He had also been selected for the student exchange program of IIT Delhi. Later, he pursued MBA in Finance from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahemadabad.

Grover has served as the Vice President in Kotak Investment Banking, New Delhi for more than seven years. In 2013, Grover acted as the director of American Express for more than two years. Later in 2015, Ashneer also worked as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Grofers. He also served as the head of PC Jewellers in 2017. It is the second-largest jewellery retailer in India.

The businessman has invested in several Indian ventures including OTO Capital, IndiaGold, The Whole Truth and Front Row. Ashneer has always been an active investor and has invested in over 23 startups and is a limited partner in two venture capital funds.

BharatPe CEO has invested in Ribbit which is one of the investors in his company. Another venture capital fund that he invested in is Vinny Pujji’s. He is a limited partner (LP) in both companies. Ribbit has a potential of $400 million while the latter has an estimated worth of over $700 million.

In the health sector, he has pitched in Meddo. He has also invested in a startup named Gaming Nazara. MyHQ and Vahan are some of the other startups Grover has invested in.
