Google has raised a lawsuit against Sonos on the grounds of the wireless speaker company infringing on a number of its patents around smart speakers and voice control technology. So far, Sonos has launched multiple lawsuits against Google, while Google struck back with one and one lawsuit has ruled in favor of Sonos. This favor has led to features being removed from Google’s products.
The new lawsuits allege infringement of seven additional patents. One of them focuses on hotword detection and wireless charging while another revolves around ow a group of speakers determines which one should respond to voice input.
Google’s lawsuit states that Sono’s Voice Control feature for its smart speakers, infringes seven patents related to Google Assistant technology.
Sono on the other hand denied Google’s allegations in the new lawsuit. Sono’s also denied Google’s previous allegations and asserted that Google has “turned to strong arm tactics” after infringing Sono’s patents.
Google’s spokesperson, “Jose Castaneda” on the other hand claims that Sonos came up with an aggressive and misleading campaign against Google’s products.
Google, in their Monday lawsuits has accused Sonos of infringing patents related to voice assistant technology in voice-controlled and battery-powered devices. Google also stated that it had made Google Assistant available to Sonos for years now. Google also mentioned that their engineers helped Sonos engineers in implementing voice-recognition technology in Sonos devices.
