YouTube launches Premium Lite plan in India at ₹89/month — here’s what it offers

YouTube discontinued its YouTube Lite plan back in 2023, but relaunched it in the US earlier this year, in March. The plan was also expected to arrive in the Indian market, and it has now officially launched in India.

The new membership works across devices, including smartphones, laptops, and TVs. While Premium Lite offers ad-free viewing for most videos, ads may still appear on music content, Shorts, and when users search or browse. For those who want ad-free music on YouTube and YouTube Music, along with offline downloads and background play, YouTube recommends opting for the full Premium plan.

The rollout has already begun, with full availability expected across India in the coming weeks.
