X announces new secure messaging feature, Chat; Rolling out on iOS and Web, with Android support coming soon

Yesterday, we shared with you that the beta version of the Chat feature was made available on the X social media platform (formerly Twitter). Today, X has officially announced the launch of the Chat messaging feature.

X Chat

Features

This all-new secure messaging on X allows end-to-end encrypted chats and file sharing. You have the option to edit or delete messages for all or make messages disappear. The X Chat ensures total privacy with no ads and no tracking. You can also make video and voice calls. Users will also be notified if someone takes a screenshot of the chat, and if you do not wish for someone to take a screenshot, you have the option to block screenshots entirely.

It is also announced that the Voice memos feature will return soon.

Availability

The X Chat feature is rolling out now on iOS and Web, while the feature will soon be made available for Android users as well. All you need to do is update your X app to access Chat and your DMs in one unified box. The Chat feature will be available through a dedicated tab (next to the notification tab) within the X platform’s interface.
