UpScrolled Removed from Google Play Store, Company Confirms on X

UpScrolled, an Australian social media platform launched in June last year, has been gaining popularity as an “unfiltered” alternative to mainstream apps. Also, recently, it achieved a milestone of 2.5 million+ users. However, as per a new detail, it has been delisted from the Google Play Store.
Here is more to it.
UpScrolled – Delisted from Google Play Store
In a post on X, the company stated, “It looks like Google Play paused our relationship this Valentine’s Day. Our app is currently unavailable for download on the Play Store. We are taking this seriously and working closely with the Google Play Team to resolve the issue.”

Although UpScrolled has not disclosed the exact reason for the removal, past reports have highlighted an increase in hate speech on the platform, particularly targeting the Jewish community. Issam Hijazi, the founder of UpScrolled, responded by saying, “We offer everyone the freedom to express and share their opinions in a healthy and respectful digital environment.” He also added that the company is “rapidly expanding our content moderation team and upgrading our technology infrastructure to better detect and remove harmful content,” in a video posted on X on February 10th.

Upon checking, we found that the app is only being delisted from the Google Play Store and remains available on the Apple App Store.
Although the exact cause remains unknown for why it has been removed from the Play Store, it is speculated that the rise in hate speech on the platform could be the cause. However, this has not been officially confirmed. We will provide updates if more information becomes available.
