Upgraded voice mode rolling out to Comet; Comet iOS will come with this upgrade in a few days

Yesterday, Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas announced that the company is rolling out an upgraded voice mode on the Comet browser. The update is rolling out to all users.

This upgrade is said to enable full hands-free browser control via speech commands for searching, navigation, and tab management. Users can now ask Comet about whatever’s on their screen, navigate sites, or chat across multiple tabs without losing context.

It is revealed that voice mode in Comet uses OpenAI Developer’s new gpt-realtime-1.5. With this upgrade, the company was able to optimise tool call stability by over 25% and dramatically improve voice expressiveness.

The new upgrade is also rolling out across Perplexity for all users. The CEO has also announced that Comet iOS will come with an upgraded voice mode in a few days.

This new upgrade will provide a lot of convenience for users and help them multitask without losing context.

Just a few days back, it was announced that the AI-powered browser, Comet, will soon be available for iPhone users (already available for Android). The expected release date is 11th March, though iPhone users can pre-order the app from the App Store.
