Quick Share with AirDrop Support Now Rolling Out to Pixel 9 Series Smartphones
Google announced the addition of AirDrop to Quick Share for the Pixel 10 Series smartphones back in November 2025, and at that time, it was announced that it would be rolling out to other Android devices soon as well. Fast forward to now, Google has announced Quick Share compatibility with AirDrop for the Pixel 9 Series smartphones.

Quick Share with AirDrop Support announced for Pixel 9 Series
In an announcement made via Made by Google’s X account and a blog post, Google states that Quick Share compatibility with AirDrop is now being added for the Pixel 9 Series smartphones. However, from the Pixel 9 Series, the Pixel 9a smartphone has been excluded from this update at this time.
The blog post further mentions that the feature will roll out over the coming weeks in phases, so those who have the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold will get it in the coming weeks. With this addition, Pixel 9 users will also be able to share files, pictures, and more with an iPhone, iPad, or a macOS device. Plus, Google also states that this feature is engineered with multi-layered security, keeping privacy and speed as a priority.

Before you can access this feature, you will first have to install the Quick Share Extension on your Pixel 9. To do so, you will first have to open the Settings page on your Pixel 9 smartphone. Under the System Services page, look for the Available Updates section. From there, click on the Quick Share Extension. If it is asking you to update, then you can update ortherwise there will be an option to install it.
