Perplexity rebuilds its iPad app to provide an experience that is designed solely for the iPad

Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity, yesterday officially announced that the Perplexity iPad app is now revamped to be native and support the workflows that iPad users have.
We’ve rewritten the Perplexity iPad app to be native and support the workflows that iPad users have – multi tasking and wider screen real estate. It gets you the experience of a desktop Perplexity usage and the polish and finesse of our iOS app. pic.twitter.com/pV3Pu6GA9k

The revamped iPad app optimises for multitasking and wider screens, merging desktop-like capabilities with iOS. Users will now get an experience designed for the iPad. This change is aimed at the students and professionals who use the iPad as their main work device.
In the above teaser video, we can see a larger sidebar with easier navigation, split view support, personalised discovery feeds, and research tools with more citations. The interface is redesigned to feel more native to the iPad. The layout now resembles a web version and not a stretched iPhone app.
Many users have appreciated the new change online as it emphasises productivity for work, study, and exploration. It is also expected to make better use of iPadOS features. This will also grow Perplexity’s paid subscriber user base, since research is a limited feature until users get on a paid tier.
In related news, last month the company launched the Comet browser on Android, while the iOS release is still awaited by users.
