Microsoft releases a new update to Windows 11 Notepad app for Windows Insider; Generate, re-write and summarize text using on-device AI models

Two days back, Microsoft released a new update for the Windows 11 Notepad app for Windows Insiders. The update includes new AI features for the app with no subscription required.
Windows 11 Notepad App: New update
The update arrives with version 11.2508.28.0. With this update, Notepad now supports AI features like Summarize, Write, and Rewrite on Copilot+ PCs with no subscription required.
If you have a subscription, you can seamlessly switch between local and cloud models based on your needs. If you are not signed in or don’t have a subscription, you can use the local model to accomplish your tasks. For now, these features support English only, making premium AI more accessible and flexible for everyone.
Insiders can share their feedback related to this update in Feedback Hun (WIN+ F), under Apps> Notepad. It is expected that soon this update will be released for the non-insiders as well.
Other than this, Microsoft has also released new updates for Paint and Snipping Tool. Paint gets new Project Files and Opacity slider options, while for the Snipping Tool update, a new Quick markup tool is introduced. The update for Paint arrives with version 11.2508.361.0, and the update for Snipping Tool arrives with version 11.2508.24.0. For now, these updates are available for Windows Insiders only.
