Messanger.com will no longer be available starting April 2026

Last year, Meta shut down Facebook’s Messenger desktop apps for Mac and Windows. Existing users were directed to the Facebook website to continue using Messenger, while those who were using Messenger without a Facebook account were redirected to Messenger.com.
Well, the Messenger website will also no longer be available to users. As officially announced on the Messenger.com help centre page, starting April 2026, messenger.com will no longer be available for messaging.
After the website goes away, users will be automatically redirected to use facebook.com/messages to continue messaging on the web. If you use Messenger without a Facebook account, you can continue your conversations on the Messenger mobile app. Also, you need not worry about your chat history, as that can be restored on any platform using your PIN.
The messenger’s web experience will now be fully integrated under the main Facebook website, as the desktop apps are already removed, and now the messenger.com portal will also come to an end. Though the Messenger standalone app for iOS and Android remains unaffected by these changes. The reason behind these changes is not officially revealed by Meta.
