Google Workspace brings Gemini-powered “Take Notes for Me” feature to Google Calendar

Google has now launched a new Gemini-powered feature in Google Calendar called “Take Notes for Me.” As the name suggests, it lets AI handle the task of taking meeting notes for you. Once turned on, Gemini can automatically generate meeting summaries, transcripts, and key action items.

Event organisers can enable this feature directly from Google Calendar before a meeting even starts. Once the meeting begins, Gemini will automatically start recording and summarising the conversation. The feature is currently available for paid Google Workspace users on Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Google AI Pro for Education, and Frontline Plus plans. It’s also available for users with Google AI Pro, AI Ultra, and Gemini Business or Enterprise plans.

For those who already have access to “Take Notes for Me,” the feature is turned on by default. Regular users will find it switched off initially, but it can be easily enabled for any meeting, just open the meeting in Calendar, click the Settings icon next to the Meet link, and toggle it on under “Meeting records.” The rollout for Rapid Release domains (Google Workspace accounts where admins choose to get new features as soon as they’re available) began on September 30, 2025, while Scheduled Release domains (accounts where updates come a bit later to ensure everything is stable before rollout) started receiving it from October 13, 2025. Both rollouts are happening gradually and may take up to 15 days to reach everyone.
