Creators Can Now Tag Posts With Paid Partnership Labels on X (Formerly Twitter)

Several platforms, including Meta-owned Instagram and Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and more, already have a feature in which creators can officially tag sponsored posts with a paid partnership or branded content label. Well, this same feature has now been announced for X (formerly Twitter).

Here is more to it.

X (Formerly Twitter) Announces Paid Partnership Labels

The Head of Product at X, Nikita Bier, has confirmed that X will now have Paid Partnership labels on posts. In this, if a creator or user is being paid by a brand to promote something, they can now officially mark the post as a “Paid Partnership.”

While announcing this new feature, Nikita also added that “X’s core value is providing an authentic pulse on humanity.” He further said, “While we want to encourage people to build their businesses on X, undisclosed promotions hurt the integrity of the product and lead people to distrust the content they read on X.” Further adding in his post, he said, “This new feature will allow you to comply with regulations, but more importantly: it enables you to be transparent with your followers.”

Here is how you can enable it:

When you compose a message on X, at the bottom, you will see a flag icon. Upon clicking it, a new box will appear titled “Content Disclosure,” below which you will see an option to toggle on or off the Paid Partnership label. By default, it will be turned off, and once you tap on it, the button will turn green.

After that, simply hit post, and your followers will be able to see a “Paid Partnership” label at the bottom of the post.

In case you forget to add it?

In this case, if the creator forgets to add the “Paid Partnership” label, they can simply add it back by clicking the three dots next to the post. Upon clicking, a new window will appear, and the last option you will see is “Add content disclosure.”

Just click on it, and you will see the window to add the “Paid Partnership” label.

Along with this, we found that if you are on the web version, there is an option to add “Made with AI” as a disclosure, which will appear as a label below your post. On iOS, we haven’t seen this feature yet, and since the rollout has just been announced, it will soon be available to all.
