Apple’s Mini Apps Partner Program Announced
Apple has announced its Mini Apps Partner Program silently, and it will be helping users to improve their customer experience with mini apps, at the same time also help developers to attain business growth on App Store. These mini apps and games are designed relying on web technologies such as JavaScript or HTML5, and get distributed via a larger native application. With the Mini Apps Partner Program that is now live, Apple admits the future which the embedded, light-weight, vertical mini-apps possess.
Speaking more about the latest program, in order for the app to be eligible for participation, it should be compatible and available on the App Store for both iOS and iPadOS. It should also be compliant with the Apple Developer Program License Agreement and App Review Guidelines, and developers will have to provide the required metadata. Technologies such as the Advanced Commerce API, Declared Age Rating API, In-App Purchase System, and the Send Consumption Information Endpoint must be supported.
By submitting the request form, developers can apply for the participation. It should also be noted that the participant or candidate must be an account holder in the Apple Developer Program too. Information regarding the host app, mini app, and eligibility must also be provided, and the developer should also agree to the program’s terms and conditions. If the request is approved, a confirmation email will be sent, and following the app testing, the app can be submitted for review. During the review stage, app binary and generic mini app In-App Purchase ID must be submitted as well.

With its Mini Apps Partner Program, Apple has legitimized the super app model for the West too. Already in China, there are the WeChat mini programs, and India has the PhonePe Switch. Furthermore, there are also a few other added benefits like early traction and more, making host apps having good traffic a great distribution place. A new embedded SaaS economy layer has also thus been created, and Apple is assuring 85% of the revenue share for the developers. Also, a wave of second order opportunities can also be unlocked with this new initiative, and the future will not be an era with standalone apps, but with ecosystem apps carrying multiple mini apps inside of it.
Stay tuned for more updates.
