AI Writer in the OnePlus Notes App – Temporarily Disabled
Over the past two days, as mentioned above, many OnePlus users have been facing technical inconsistencies with the AI Writer function that the brand has in it Notes app, and this was initially noted when it started refusing to generate contents which mentioned of Arunachal Pradesh of India. The same was the case when asking about topics regarding the Dalai Lama, Taiwan, and more as reported by certain OnePlus users. This suggested that the feature could possibly be relying on Chinese-trained AI systems that may be based on biased geopolitical data (not aligned with India).
After the matter sparked widespread discussion across social media platforms particularly on X, even though OnePlus began an internal investigation and shared an early update pointing out its hybrid AI architecture and collaboration with global partners, the AI Writer in the OnePlus Notes app has been taken down on a temporary basis as the brand requires more time to look into the matter.
As of now, no OnePlus users will be able to find the AI Writer feature on their respective devices, and they will have to make use of the standard input methods that is there on the OnePlus Notes app. While the brand has informed that it is always committed in delivering community-first technology and the recent mishap was unintentional, the details regarding when the AI Writer app will be back has not yet been shared.
