YouTube Launches “Hype” Section to Boost Emerging Creators in India

YouTube has introduced a separate “Hype” page for Indian users. It displays the top 100 most-hyped long-form videos from rising creators in near-real time. The feature focuses on channels with 500 to 500,000 subscribers and updates every few minutes to keep the list fresh. Last year, the site added automated AI dubbing, which allows these same creators to reach multilingual audiences with a single click.

Hype adds a small button just under the Like icon on eligible videos. Viewers can “hype” any newly uploaded video during its first seven days on the platform, up to three times a week, free of charge. Each hype grants points; the more points, the higher a clip climbs on the country-specific leaderboard under the Explore tab. Smaller channels receive automatic bonus points, giving creators with fewer followers an extra lift. Videos that rank may earn a special badge and extra exposure on YouTube’s home feed.

Hype actions are currently free, though YouTube says paid hype options may follow later. Eligibility is limited to creators in India with 500 – 500,000 subscribers, and only long-form videos published within the past seven days qualify; viewers must also reside in India and be at least 18 years old. The rollout has begun and is expected to hit all Indian accounts over the coming weeks.
