About BitChat
This is a peer-to-peer (P2P) messaging app that operates without the need for WiFi or cellular networks. Messages jump from device to device over Bluetooth. This app will be of great help for users who are in an environment of weak internet or where the internet is blocked (due to emergencies). It is said that this app focuses on privacy, P2P communication, and no data collection.
This app includes a Favorites system, you can use mentions to notify users, create rooms for topic-based conversations, secure rooms with passwords, and AES encryption. It eliminates common privacy concerns like advertisements, user tracking, linked accounts, or phone numbers. It arrives with a familiar interface with easy-to-use commands like /j #channel, /m @name, and /who for smooth navigation. It uses LZ4 compression for large messages and optimizes scanning to balance performance and battery life
BitChat was opened for beta testers via Apple’s TestFlight, the test is now full after hitting its 10,000-user maximum. The app is still under review before it will be officially released. It is said that BitChat will always be free and open source software in the public domain. Reportedly, the development team is working on an Android version to expand its reach across more devices and platforms.
It is also revealed that an upcoming update will enable WiFi Direct mode, extending chat range well beyond typical Bluetooth limits.
