Sora 2
This model is said to do things that are exceptionally difficult for prior video generation models. It’s more physically accurate and realistic than prior systems and is a big leap forward in controllability. And it also comes with synchronized audio. The model excels at realistic, cinematic, and anime styles. It is capable of creating sophisticated background soundscapes, speech, and sound effects with a high degree of realism.
You can also directly inject elements of the real world into Sora 2. It can do things that are exceptionally difficult and in some instances outright impossible for prior video generation models, like Olympic gymnastics routines, backflips on a paddleboard that accurately model the dynamics of buoyancy and rigidity, and triple axels while a cat holds on for dear life.
To maintain a safe and secure platform for a state-of-the-art video model as well as a new social creation platform, OpenAI has built Sora 2 and the Sora app with safety at the foundation. The safety principles shape concrete measures, like watermaking and provenance metadata for every video, ownership of your likeness, balanced content safeguards, and stricter teen protections.
Though users are warned that this model is far from perfect and does make some mistakes.
Availability
OpenAI is launching a new social iOS app just called Sora, powered by Sora 2. Inside the app, you can create and remix each other’s generations, discover new videos in a customizable Sora feed, and bring yourself or your friends in via cameos. This is an invite-based app. You can sign up in-app for a push notification when access opens for your account. Initially, the app is rolled out in the US and Canada.
Once you have access to the Sora app, you will also be able to access Sora 2 through sora.com. Android users will be able to access Sora 2 via sora.com once they have an invite code from someone who already has access.
OpenAI also plans to release Sora 2 in the API. While Sora 1 Turbo will remain available, and everything you’ve created will continue to live in your sora.com library.
