Lumo Introduced by Proton as its Privacy-First AI Assistant: Web, Android, and iOS Versions Now Available

Proton has now introduced Lumo as the brand’s AI assistant that prioritizes privacy first, and notably it has zero-access encryption, holds a no-logs policy, and is open-source and auditable. The web, Android, and iOS versions of the app are also currently made available to users.

Check out more about the AI assistant and its capabilities below.

Proton’s Lumo AI Assistant Introduced and Made Available to Users

The Lumo AI assistant is a new service that has been introduced within Proton’s own privacy ecosystem, and it is built by giving importance to privacy, security, as well as transparency. Moreover, unlike other US or China-based AI services, Proton’s Lumo claims that it does not sell any of its user data and assures a privacy-friendly environment that is based in Europe.

What makes Lumo different from other AI services is its privacy-first framework as indicated above. All chats with Lumo are stored with zero-access encryption and the AI assistant does not keep any logs of its user conversations – freeing users from the dangers of data leaks or hacking attempts. Also to add, chat that has been saved by users can only be decrypted on their respective devices and by no other means.

No data sharing and no AI training with user conversations are further features of the Lumo AI assistant. Additionally, Lumo is also based on open-source language models with its data centers operating within Europe – meaning it does not rely on any other third parties like what Apple Intelligence does. Other notable features include the Ghost mode, web search, file uploads, and Proton Drive integration.

About its availability, it is now accessible as web, Android, and iOS versions to all users. Even without an account, users will be able to ask queries, and with a valid account signed in, chat history can be saved (encrypted on the device only). For users who would like to enjoy more premium features and unlimited queries, they can upgrade to Lumo Plus as well – at USD 13/month or USD 120/year.
