License Validation for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations to Start From 15th January 2025
In order to maintain a more smoother as well as predictable experience, Microsoft’s license validation has now been announced to follow a staged roll-out plan which will be aligned based on the contract renewal or the anniversary date. It will be starting from the 15th of January 2025, initially for customers having contract renewals or anniversary dates after the mentioned date. By following this approach for roll-out, Microsoft believes that it will bring benefits such as proactive engagement, reduced operational impact, and a better scalable and transparent timeline. Also, parallel to this, additional tools and reporting capabilities will be introduced alongside, and these will help in improving the overall customer experience in managing licenses.
For a smooth transition, Microsoft has also asked administrators to follow a few steps to prevent any kind of disruptions in their work. Administrators will have to understand licensing requirements before the license validation timeline nears, and they must also review user role and license mapping. Making use of the License Usage Summary Report, they can also identify certain opportunities that can help them optimize user role assignments. Furthermore, they should align license assignments in Microsoft 365 Admin Center, making sure that they match with the license types in the reports.
