Hearing Test and Hearing Aid features on AirPods Pro 2 and Sleep Apnea notifications are now available on Apple Watch in selected regions

Apple CEO, Tim Cook, today announced on the X platform that the Hearing Test and Hearing Aid features on AirPods Pro 2 are now available in selected regions. Sleep Apnea notifications on Apple Watch are also made available in various countries.

Hearing Test & Hearing Aid: AirPods Pro 2

Hearing Test is a five-minute test conducted using AirPods Pro 2 and an iPhone or iPad running iOS 18.1 or iPadOS 18 and up that generates a personalized hearing profile based on the results. Hearing Aid feature turns the earbuds into a clinical-grade hearing aid, designed to support users with mild to moderate hearing loss. The hearing adjustments are applied system-wide, including for music, phone calls, and more, without the need for manual changes.

Sleep Apnea notifications on Apple Watch

The Sleep Apnea notifications feature can look for breathing disturbances while you’re sleeping and notify you if they show consistent signs of moderate to severe sleep apnea. Sleep Apnea is a respiratory condition where you experience repeated disruptions in your breathing while you sleep. When you wear your Apple Watch to bed, it uses an accelerometer to look for breathing disturbances while you sleep.

These are categorized as Elevated or Not Elevated. Over a 30-day evaluation period, if you consistently experience Elevated breathing disturbances, you receive a notification, letting you know it has identified signs of sleep apnea.
