Google confirms that Android’s Quick Share- AirDrop interoperability coming to more Android devices this year

Last year, Google made Android’s Quick Share interoperable with Apple’s AirDrop, starting with the Pixel 10 family. This made file transfer a lot easier between iPhones and Pixel 10 series devices, while this feature worked with iPadOS and macOS devices too.

The Android fans have been waiting since then for this capability to expand to more Android devices as well. The wait seems to be finally over, as according to a report by Android Authority, during a press briefing at Google’s Taipei office, Eric Kay, Vice President of Engineering for the Android platform, confirmed the expansion of Quick Share- AirDrop interoperability to more Android devices this year.

He said, “ Last year, we launched AirDrop interoperability. In 2026, we’re going to be expanding it to a lot more devices.” The company is revealed to be working with its partners to expand the functionality across the rest of the Android ecosystem, while some exciting announcements related to this will be made soon.

This suggests that the Quick Share- AirDrop interoperability will no longer be a Pixel-exclusive feature. Nothing CEO has already confirmed last year that they are working on a way to bring AirDrop compatibility to Nothing phones. Meanwhile, Qualcomm has also announced to bring this capability on Snapdragon powered phones as well in the near future.

It is also revealed that Google is working to make switching from iPhone to Android easier. Let’s see when we will get to hear the official announcement regarding the availability of these capabilities.
