Xbox currently working on the next-generation Xbox console codenamed “Project Helix”

Xbox’s newly appointed CEO, Asha Sharma, recently announced that the company is working on the next-generation console that is codenamed Project Helix.

It is revealed that Project Helix will lead in performance and play your Xbox and PC games. The CEO will be chatting about this next-gen console with partners and studios at the Game Developers Conference 2026 next week. The logo for the Project Helix is also teased by the company.

Last year, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also mentioned that the company was looking to “revisit” the conventional wisdom that consoles and PCs are separate entities.

It appears that Microsoft wants its next console to function more like a gaming PC. Reports indicate that Project Helix could be released in late 2027, though there can be changes made in the release timeline depending on the development of the next-gen console.

At the upcoming GDC next week, deeper insights related to this new console are expected to be officially revealed by the company, while some new leaks may also surface related to the new console.
