PS5 Pro (CFI-7121) Clears BIS Certification in India, Launch Seems Imminent

In India, rumours have now started that Sony is soon going to launch the much-awaited PS5 Pro in the Indian market. This is evident, as its model number has now appeared on the Indian BIS certification.
Here is more to it.
PS5 Pro – Indian BIS
On the BIS certification, first spotted by a user called @ArjuncampbellA on X, the brand name is listed as SONY, and the model number shown next to it is “CFI-7121.” It also confirms that the device was listed on the certification on March 9, 2026. Although the listing does not reveal the moniker, the PS5 Pro has already been launched outside India back in 2024, and its model number is already known. The model number matches the one that has now been discovered on the BIS certification, thus confirming that the PS5 Pro has now been BIS certified.

Some might wonder why it did not launch in India earlier. At that time, Sony had clarified that “PS5 Pro will not be available in some countries (which presently includes India) where the 6GHz wireless band used in IEEE 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7) has not yet been allowed.”
However, in January 2026, the Government of India delicensed the lower 6 GHz spectrum band (5925–6425 MHz) for indoor Wi-Fi use, with certain riders. This effectively opened the doors for OEMs to introduce new devices that support Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7.
With this regulatory approval in place, along with the recent BIS listing, the PS5 Pro’s India launch can now be expected soon. Typically, when a product appears on the BIS certification, it launches within a month or two. However, Sony has not made any official statement regarding this yet.
Currently, the PS5 and PS5 Slim models are available in India, and the PS5 Pro would become the third variant in the PS5 series of consoles if it launches in the market.
