ASUS ROG XREAL R1 launched as world’s first AR glasses with 240Hz micro-OLED Full HD display
ASUS has teamed up with XREAL to launch the ROG XREAL R1, a new pair of augmented reality (AR) gaming glasses aimed at delivering a portable, large-screen gaming experience across PCs, consoles, and handheld devices such as the ROG Ally.
The ROG XREAL R1 stand out as the world’s first AR glasses to feature a 240Hz micro-OLED Full HD display, positioning them squarely at gamers who prioritise high refresh rates and low latency in a compact, wearable form factor.
Specs and Features
It features a Sony 0.55-inch micro-OLED display with a Full HD resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and an industry-first 240Hz refresh rate, delivering ultra-smooth visuals with a 57-degree field of view. The glasses project a virtual screen equivalent to up to 171 inches at a viewing distance of around 4 metres and offer an ultra-low 3ms motion-to-photon latency for responsive gameplay. They are powered by XREAL’s dedicated X1 spatial computing chip, allowing users to adjust the virtual screen’s size and distance.

The ROG XREAL R1 utilises XREAL’s proprietary X-Prism Optical Engine along with electrochromic lenses that can automatically or manually adjust tint based on ambient lighting. Integrated speakers with Sound by Bose branding are included for audio output.
The glasses support native 3DoF tracking, optional 6DoF support, and include an Anchor Mode to lock the virtual screen in a fixed physical position. Connectivity is provided through a single USB-C cable for compatible devices, while the bundled ROG Control Dock adds two HDMI 2.0 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 port for use with PCs and consoles. The glasses weigh approximately 91 grams.
