Here’s Why the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition’s Zoom Ring Wobbles and Makes Sound
As revealed by the brand, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition’s Master Zoom Ring is pointed out to feature a sandwich structure design, and the brand had faced multiple challenges in order to incorporate it at the rear. Constraints like limited body height, drop protection, ergonomics, and long-term stability were certain aspects that caused difficulties, but as already known, these are not things that could be changed or altered as it would hinder the user experience.
The Master Zoom Ring structure consists of 26 independent parts, and its radial and axial designs have been provided with movement. To note, the allowable movement is to prevent deformation that may be caused from drops, and also to prevent the ring from getting stuck as a result of dust or liquid ingress. The movement of the radial and axial designs is what makes the Master Zoom Ring wobble when the device is tilted or shaken, and also the reason why it makes the slight click sound.
Speaking more, the brand further also goes on to explain that the wobbling or click sound from the Master Zoom Ring doesn’t mean its function will be affected, and the brand assures that it will still offer the promised overall IP66/IP68/IP69-rated dust and water protection for the device. Moreover, the Master Zoom Ring has undergone multiple rigorous tests like ‘dust and liquid ingress’, ‘mobile phone drop test’, ‘high temperature and high humidity extreme environment’, ‘continuous rotation durability test’, and many more, during both the product trial production and mass production phases, and users won’t have to worry about its durability.
