Samsung announces Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition for Milano Cortina 2026 athletes

Samsung has announced the Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition, a special version of its foldable phone that will be provided exclusively to athletes competing at the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. This follows the company’s earlier initiative with the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition for Paris 2024 athletes, continuing Samsung’s long-running partnership with the Olympic movement. Around 3,800 Olympians and Paralympians from roughly 90 countries will receive the device, which is designed to support communication, daily life in the Olympic Village, and sharing moments from competition and celebration.

Features and Design

The Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition is based on the standard Galaxy Z Flip7 and features a foldable design with an edge-to-edge FlexWindow and Galaxy AI integration. Samsung says the phone is intended to be easy to use one-handed, which may be practical for athletes during the Games. It has a dual rear camera setup with a 50MP wide camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. Software features highlighted by Samsung include Now Brief for daily updates such as schedules and reminders, Photo Assist tools for editing images, and an on-device Interpreter that can provide real-time translation even without a network connection.

Samsung has confirmed that the phone will play a role in official Olympic moments through the return of the Victory Selfie, which allows athletes to take selfies on the podium using the device. At Milano Cortina 2026, this feature will be expanded to include team sport events, allowing more athletes to capture their own podium moments. The company is also introducing a new concept called Victory Profile, where selected athletes from nine National Olympic Committees will have portrait photos taken using the Galaxy S25 Ultra to showcase their stories and personalities.

In terms of design, the Olympic Edition features a custom blue back glass, a gold-coloured metal frame, and Olympic-themed visual elements. It also ships with a clear case that includes a blue circular magnet and gold laurel detailing. Special wallpapers and animations inspired by winter sports are preloaded on the device. Samsung says these design choices are intended to mark athletes’ participation in the Games rather than to offer a commercially available variant.

The phone comes with several pre-installed services aimed at athletes, including a Galaxy Athlete Card for connecting with other participants, the official Olympic Games app, Athlete365, and other utility apps to support daily activities in the Olympic Village. Athletes will also receive a complimentary 100GB 5G eSIM and access to selected services through Samsung Wallet, such as digital passes and partner offers.

Availability

Samsung will begin distributing the Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition in Olympic Villages across six cities from 30th January. The device will not be available for sale to the public.
