POCO M8 5G with 6.77″ 3D Curved AMOLED FHD+ Display, Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 SoC, 4 Major OS Updates Launched in India

Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO has launched the POCO M8 5G in the Indian market. Meanwhile, both the POCO M8 and POCO M8 Pro are scheduled to launch globally today, with their specifications already confirmed on POCO’s global website. The POCO M8 Pro was also rumoured to launch in India; however, as of now, only the POCO M8 5G has been officially launched in the country.

Poco M8 5G Specs and Features

It comes with a 6.77″ 3D curved AMOLED FHD+ display, 120Hz refresh rate, and 3200 nits peak brightness. It supports 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut and can display 68.7 billion colours. For eye protection, the display carries TÜV Triple Certification, including TÜV Low Blue Light, TÜV Flicker-Free, and TÜV Circadian certifications. It also supports 3840Hz PWM dimming below 80 nits and DC dimming above 80 nits. It measures 7.35mm in thickness, weighs 178 grams, and features a 3D curved body design.

Powering the POCO M8 5G is the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 SoC, with a claimed AnTuTu V11 score of over 825,000, which POCO states is 83 percent higher than the previous generation. It comes with up to 16GB RAM in total, comprising 8GB physical RAM and an additional 8GB of virtual RAM expansion. It also offers up to 256GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 1TB via a microSD card. The phone runs Xiaomi HyperOS 2 based on Android 15 and integrates Google Gemini, along with Circle to Search with Google. POCO has confirmed four major Android OS updates and six years of security updates, with HyperOS 3.0 planned for a future rollout.

In terms of optics, the device features a 50MP Dual AI rear camera with a Light Fusion 400 large-aperture sensor, 2× in-sensor zoom, and 4K video recording with stabilisation. On the front, it includes a 20MP selfie camera with AI-enhanced portrait clarity and automatic portrait detection on both front and rear cameras. Camera software features include Live Photo, Retro Film Camera mode, AI Magic Eraser Pro, AI Sky Replacement, and AI Reflection Removal.

It packs a 5520mAh EV-grade silicon carbon battery, claimed to offer up to 1.6 days of battery life under moderate usage. Usage claims include 25+ hours of Instagram scrolling, 19+ hours of YouTube streaming, 9+ hours of non-stop gaming, 18+ hours of WhatsApp chatting, or 10+ hours of GPS navigation. Charging features include 45W fast charging (1% to 50% in 28 minutes), 18W reverse charging, Battery Health 4.0, and TÜV-certified 5-year battery durability, with up to 80% capacity retention after 1600 charge cycles.

For audio, the device includes dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, and up to 300% volume boost. Durability features include IP66 dust and water resistance, Wet Touch 2.0, anti-drop and scratch protection, SGS MIL-STD-810 certification, and drop resistance tested up to 1.7 metres.

Pricing and Availability

The Poco M8 5G has been launched in three colour options of Carbon Black, Glacial Blue, and Frost Silver. The smartphone will go on its first sale starting January 13 at 12 PM via Flipkart.

POCO has announced an introductory launch offer for the POCO M8 5G, with effective prices starting at ₹15,999, inclusive of all discounts. As part of the offer, buyers can avail a ₹2,000 instant bank discount along with an additional ₹1,000 discount, bringing the 6GB+128GB variant down to ₹15,999 from its regular price of ₹18,999. Similarly, the 8GB+128GB variant will be available for ₹16,999, compared to its actual price of ₹19,999, while the top-end 8GB+256GB model will be priced at ₹18,999, down from ₹21,999. This introductory offer will be valid for the first 12 hours of sale, starting January 13 at 12 PM.
